Background

The District is charged with and supports the health and safety of the community including the provision of medications to individuals who could not afford or have access to necessary prescription medications. The District seeks to balance community health and fiscal responsiveness through efficient sourcing, maintaining, dispensing, and disposal of medications.

 

This policy (Exhibit A) formalizes the current Health District policy in place; there are no changes to the current policy. This policy complies with applicable federal and state regulations in addition to association recommendations for the labeling, distribution and management of medications. This policy establishes a framework for the procurement of medications with additional management practices such as storage, dispensing and chain of custody records to be developed through procedures.
