BOARD OF HEALTH STAFF REPORT (20-081)
November 10, 2020
Consent Agenda

Authorize the Administrative Officer to sign the contract extension with the Department of Social and Health Services for the Refugee Health Screening Program through 9/30/21 (SR 20-081; K. Curtis)

Division:
Prevention Services / Katie Curtis, Prevention Services Director
Prior Board Review:
Administration Committee, 10/28/20; Executive Committee, 10/29/20

Background

The Department of Social and Health Services has extended our current contract through September 30, 2021. The current contract has a maximum agreement amount of $230,000. This represents a $50,000 reduction from the past year contract. At this point in time the impact to the Refugee Health Screening program would be that a 0.9 FTE vacant RN position will be rehired at a 0.5 FTE. The reduction in funding is mainly due to the cap on the number of refugees currently being allowed into the United States. This cap is set by the U.S. President each year.

The new contract does not have any significant changes to the body of work that has been done in our Refugee Health Screening program over the years.

Board Authority

Consistent with Resolution 19-20 and the revised Division of Responsibilities (10/8/19), the Board of Health retains contract authority for non-legal services greater than $50,000/year or $100,000/total contract.

Recommended Motion

MOVE TO authorize the Administrative Officer to sign the contract extension with the Department of Social and Health Services for the Refugee Health Screening Program through 9/30/21.
