In 2009 the Public Health Advisory Council (PHAC) was established by Resolution 09-20 of the Board of Health. The purpose of the PHAC is to convene community partners to provide periodic advice to the Health District and to the Board of Health and to make recommendations relevant to improving the health of the citizens of Snohomish County. Members are appointed to the Council for staggered three-year terms and serve without compensation. Members are appointed by the Chair of the Board and confirmed by the full Board of Health.
Martha Peppones, Homage Nutrition & Wellness Program Director, previously represented the Senior Services sector between July 2015 and June 2019. The sector has remained vacant since.
Ms. Jean Doerge became the part-time volunteer Director of Parish Health for an Edmonds congregation in early 2020 after retiring from an extensive career in healthcare. Serving people, especially seniors, on the journey to health and wholeness is the current focus for her time and interest. As a Master’s-prepared community health nurse with more than 40 years of experience in various roles of frontline care and administrative leadership, Ms. Doerge seeks to invest her time to support Snohomish County seniors. Her most recent executive position was as Chief Nursing Officer at Swedish Edmonds Hospital. In that role Jean was able to connect with leaders of various public service sectors of south Snohomish County and grasp the challenges and opportunities for healthcare systems for seniors. Ms. Doerge is married and has two grown daughters, loves kayaking, exploring paths in the woods, and appreciating the beauty of the great Northwest.
Chair Stephanie Wright has appointed Ms. Doerge to fill the Senior Services sector from January 2021 through June 2023 and requests Board of Health confirmation.
