Consent Agenda

Authorize Environmental Health staff to submit proposal to Washington Department of Ecology for the Pollution Prevention Assistance Partnership funds (SR 21-023; R. Gray)

Division:
Environmental Health / Ragina Gray, Director
Prior Board Review:
Administration Committee, 2/24/21; Executive Committee, 2/25/21

Background

Washington State Department of Ecology (Ecology) administers a fund for the Pollution Prevention Assistance Partnership, formerly known as the Local Source Control Partnership. Snohomish Health District has entered into a partnership with Ecology for these funds since 2007 at the inception of the program.

These funds are not grant funds, but rather interagency contractual agreements to perform specific work. Funds are allocated on a biennium basis. This program provides funds to provide hands-on technical assistance to help businesses find and resolve potential pollution issues.

We are typically awarded roughly $500,000 per biennium. Because these funds have been very reliable, Environmental Health proactively included these funds in the 2021 budget; therefore, no changes to the budget would need to be made if the Board consents.

Applications for this funding source are due April 2, 2021.

Board Authority

Consistent with Resolution 19-20 and the revised Division of Responsibilities (10/8/19), the Board of Health has authority over the Health District budget.

Recommended Motion
