Background

May 6-12 has been designated as National Nurses Week to recognize the nursing profession for their commitment, dedication, and hard work in the health care system. Nurses comprise our nation’s largest health care profession and in addition to working in hospitals, long-term care facilities, and clinics, nurses also play a vital role in public health, prisons, schools, and many other settings.

This year, honoring nurses is more important than ever. For the past 16 months, the nurses of Snohomish County have tirelessly worked the front lines of the pandemic, putting themselves at risk and making many sacrifices to serve their community. Especially now, nurses are more deserving than ever of our support, respect, and appreciation.

This proclamation acknowledges and thanks nurses for their service and sacrifices they have and continue to make for others.
