Background

The Health District has a contract with the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) to provide refugee health screenings. The 2020-21 contract awarded the Health District $230,000 which, at the beginning of the contract, seemed like it would cover the costs for the District. However, by the end of July, all funds had been spent for the contract period.

We have negotiated with DSHS to add an additional $50,000 to the contract to get through the end of the contract period of September 30, 2021.

The total contract amount for the 2022-23 period will be increased to $280,000, which is the same amount we will have used during this contract period.

Board Authority

Consistent with Resolution 19-20 and the revised Division of Responsibilities (10/8/19), the Board of Health retains authority over the pursuit of new, extending, or renewing grants and contracts over $50,000 or requiring matching funds.

Recommended Motion
