The Child Care Health Outreach Program (CCHOP) has traditionally been staffed with a 1.0 public health nurse, a 0.5 environmental health specialist, a 0.5 registered dietician, and in recent years we have had a 0.5 FTE behavioral health specialist.
In 2020 our 0.5 FTE behavioral health specialist left the District for a new career opportunity and the position has remained unfilled since that time. In June of 2021, our registered dietician also left the District and that position is now vacant. The supervisor for the CCHOP has taken a look at the needs of child care providers in the county and found the largest unmet need is behavioral health support. This is not easily found in the community and was also an item identified in our latest Community Health Assessment.
Our recommendation to the Board is to remove the 0.5 FTE registered dietician and increase the 0.5 FTE behavioral health specialist to a 1.0 FTE to better meet the needs of the community.
