The Prevention Services Division has a wide range of programs that touch the public, healthcare providers, and community partners. We propose adding two health educators to help with education and outreach for all the programs in the division. Health educators assess, design, implement, and evaluate health education programs and services. The benefit to hiring two health educators for the division is an increase in outreach to the public regarding preventing disease and illness, ways to increase health, and increasing healthcare providers’ ability to diagnose and treat communicable diseases and tuberculosis.
Each health educator would have an area of focus and would report to the assistant directors in the division.
Health educator 1 areas of focus:
- Tuberculosis and latent tuberculosis infection
- Communicable diseases
- Sexually-transmitted diseases
|
Health educator 2 areas of focus:
- Healthy communities
- Maternal and child health
- Childcare health outreach
|
The approximate cost for a health educator is $62,508 - $82,896 plus benefits (assumption of 30%).
The funds for these two positions would come from Foundational Public Health Funding and would support the area of reinforcing capacity.
