Assignment agreement with Maxim Healthcare Services to provide temporary nursing support for the tuberculosis program (SR 22-049; K. Curtis)

Division:
Prevention Services / Katie Curtis, Division Director

Background

The District continues to have multiple nursing vacancies within the Prevention Services Division. These vacancies have started to impact the ability to continue services for the community. A possible way to minimize this impact is to utilize Maxim Healthcare Services  to fill gaps short term while we continue to recruit for these permanent positions. The District provides Maxim with the required skillset and time frame and Maxim then provides us with resumes of available nurses. This allows us the ability to bring on a nurse quickly to support ongoing programmatic work.

Currently, there is an acute need in the tuberculosis program which has one vacancy and one position that has been filled but the new hire is moving here from out of state and unable to start prior to September 1, 2022. Staff have had preliminary conversations with Maxim, and the former has indicated they would be able to provide a nurse at a rate of $90 an hour through at least November 24.

The Health District previously entered into an agreement with Maxim (Exhibit A) for staffing for COVID-related activities. This assignment agreement (Exhibit B) would fall under the terms and conditions of the original agreement.

Board Authority

Consistent with Resolution 19-20 and the revised Division of Responsibilities (10/8/19), the Board of Health retains contract approval authority for new, extending, or renewing grants and contracts over $50,000 or that require matching funds.

Recommended Motion

MOVE TO authorize the Administrative Officer to sign the assignment agreement with the Maxim Healthcare Services for temporary nursing support for the tuberculosis program.
