Specialty pay for Environmental Health Safe Environments program (SR 22-048; J. Myers)

Division:
Environmental Health / JR Myers, Assistant Director
Prior Board Review:
Program Policy Committee, 6/16/22

Background

Environmental Health currently operates a program providing services to K - 12 schools that include safety inspections, construction plan reviews, and pre-occupancy inspections. In preparing to receive and expend additional funds provided by Foundational Public Health Services (FPHS), the District is requesting to offer specialty pay as a promotional opportunity to existing environmental health specialist (EHS) staff. The staff receiving this pay would help develop and plan for additional projects and services that can be offered to Snohomish County schools. Specialty pay will be set at the EHS III step that reflects a minimum 5% increase, not to exceed the top step of the range. The pay will be effective from August 2022 through January 2023 and is estimated at $4,500.00.

Board Authority

Consistent with Resolution 19-20 and the revised Division of Responsibilities (10/8/19), the Board of Health has authority over the Health District budget.

Recommended Motion

MOVE TO authorize specialty pay for an environmental health specialist in the Safe Environments program.
