Authorize the Administrative Officer to sign amendment #7 to the consolidated contract with the Washington State Department of Health (SR 22-077; K. Curtis)

Background

As part of the State’s consolidated contract, the Washington State Department of Health, has awarded the Health District the following funds:

 

Infectious Disease Prevention Services. Funds in the amount of $1678,881 have been added for the contract period of July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023. These are funds for work around STD testing/treatment/prevention and HIV education/prevention.

 

Office of Immunizations Regional Representatives. Funds in the amount of $74,468 have been added for the contract period of July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023. These funds are used for staff site visits for providers enrolled in the Vaccine for Children Program. The District houses the regional representative for this work. Site visits are conducted in Snohomish, Skagit, Island, Whatcom, and San Juan Counties.

 

Office of Immunizations Promotion of Immunizations to Improve Vaccinations Rates. Funds in the amount of $45,150 have been added to the contract for the period of July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023. These funds are used to increase vaccinations rates in the county among all age groups.  

 

Office of Immunization Perinatal Hepatitis B. Funds in the amount of $21,500 have been added to the contract for the period of July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023. These funds are used to ensure pregnant women diagnosed with Hepatitis B are appropriately treated and newborns are appropriately treated when indicated.  

 

Office of Immunizations COVID-19 vaccine. Funds in the amount of $22,748 have been added to the contract for the period of January 1, 2022, through June 30, 2024. This brings the total amount of funding for this program to $4,958,304. These funds are used for supporting COVID immunization activities in the county, acting as a COVID-19 vaccine depot for healthcare providers, and conducting outreach and education around COVID-19 vaccine.

 

Maternal and Child Health Block Grant. Funds in the amount of $444,879 have been added to the contract for the period of January 1, 2022, through September 30, 2023. These funds are used for work with the Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs program, breastfeeding support, and the Children 1-22 program.

 

Injury & Violence Prevention Overdose Data to Action. Funds in the amount of $150,000 have been added to the contract for the period of September 1, 2022, through August 31, 2023. These funds are used for data collection work with local hospitals and opioid response efforts.

 

Foundational Public Health Services. This amendment does not change the amount of funding provided to the District for 2022-2023. This amendment removes incorrectly applied funds from a prior amendment.

 

Executive Office of Resiliency and Health Security -PHEP. Funds in the amount of $681,471 have been added to the contract for the period of July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023. These funds are used for emergency preparedness and response efforts.

 

COVID-19 Mass Vaccination – FEMA. This amendment extends the performance period from September 30, 2022, through June 20, 2023. These funds can be used to contract with providers to provide COVID-19 vaccination opportunities in the county.  

 
Board Authority

Consistent with Resolution 19-20 and the revised Division of Responsibilities (10/8/19), the Board of Health has authority over the Health District budget.

 
Recommended Motion

MOVE TO authorize the Administrative Officer to execute amendment #7 to the consolidated contract with the Washington State Department of Health.
