In May 2018, the Snohomish Health District was approached by Everett Public Schools about a need for a short-term lease to operate two early childhood programs. Everett Public Schools (EPS) Early Learning is currently renovating space for a long-term home for their Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) and weekly Play & Learn.

In August 2018, the Board authorized the Administrator to enter into a short-term lease (Exhibit A) with Everett Public Schools. The term of the lease was a six-month initial term, with the option to renew monthly after that. 

On November 20, staff received a letter (Exhibit B) from the Superintendent of Everett Public Schools notifying us of their desire to extend the signed lease for an additional four months from March 1, 2019, through June 30, 2019. The notification is consistent with the Section 2(b) of the lease.

Consistent with the Charter of the Snohomish Health District (1959; 1997), Resolution 11-36 (12/13/11), and SHD’s “Division of Responsibilities,” the Board of Health approves expenditures associated with building purchase, construction, renovation, and leasing.

MOVE TO authorize the Administrator to extend the short-term lease with Everett Public Schools through June 30, 2019.
