In accordance with a budget proviso, recruitment for vacant staff positions must be approved by the Board of Health during the 2019 budget year.
The Health District has received notice that an Environmental Health Specialist in our Land Use and Safe Environments Program will be retiring, with his last day of employment being May 31, 2019.
The current employee works with the Snohomish County Nuisance Property Task Force, investigates onsite sewage and solid waste complaints, and conducts routine inspections of water recreation facilities. The new hire may perform these or other Land Use and Safe Environment Program tasks, depending on workload redistribution to current employees.
The current position is budgeted at $122,083 (salary + benefits). It’s anticipated that a new hire will result in an initial annual expense of approximately $90,000, a reduction of approximately $32,000. Recruitment may occur prior to June 1; however, there will be no overlap in employment between the new hire and the retiring employee.
